Now competitive blogging is not really something I have encountered before, until I saw a report compiled by the Ministry of Insights entitled ‘Who are the Best Agency Bloggers in Bristol – 2010?’.

Our Team Rubber blog has been ranked #1 out of 152 of the Bristol Media companies included! Now we need to note that this is only part one of the report and is the quantity based section (we had 109 posts), but it’s still good to win when you didn’t know you were competing!

This started a little inter-agency rivalry with Gez (from Delib) noticing that they had posted 140 times in 2010, so could actually have beaten Team Rubber. Over at the Viral Ad Network we managed a lowly 101 posts, and Rubber Republic is yet to comment

Personally I find that regular blogging is a tough task to maintain – client work always seems to get in the way! But I do think its worth trying to be disciplined. At VAN we find that blogging, alongside other social outreach, is a great way of generating new business and attracting relevant people to our site.

I’ll leave it at that before I type myself into a New Years Resolution!

So this post is a little bit late. We’ve had a full week of ice-baths and sports massage in our come-down from theBristol Media Football Tournament and now feel ready to share how it all went with the wider world.

First up, we were the best dressed team there (save for Alex’s shoelace around his head and his long shorts/short trousers) Awesome Team Rubber shirts in Black and Gold complemented by some pimp neon pink and black socks certainly set the tone as we assembled for some pre-tournament hacking of the ball at our new keeper, Bunny (it turns out his name was Button)

Into the group stages we drew the first game against a suspiciously young team before sweeping aside all those before us to top our group. Goals came thick and fast in most games and Ben Whitnall did a great job of giving us shape and shouts throughout the tournament that let us play some brilliant football.

The knock-out stages drew us against the eventual winners, Smith & Williamson- we went 1-nil up but then some sloppy marking saw them sneak in the equaliser to take the game to penalties. Like all great English teams we fluffed up on penalties and our day in the sun was over. S&W (a law firm) went on to win the final on penalties- congrats to them.

The Team Rubber Team were: Owen, Alex, Ben T, Ian, Ally, Kirk, Button & Ben W as gaffer.

I’ve looked long and hard and then best 2 pictures are below. Oh, and one more thing, if you’re good at football and want a job then we’re recruiting for an Account Director with a strong left foot.
